I write to you today imploring you to take a stand for universal paid family leave. Our current federal policy does not protect all working families and has created greater inequity and injustice, particularly for low wage workers, women and people of color. As a nation we can and must do better. 

​

Join us in advocating for the Families Matter Act (FMA). This policy supports 20 weeks of universal paid family leave for one mother/father; caregiver or one party of the parental relationship and 12 weeks of paid family leave for second mother/father, caregiver or other party of the parental relationship. With the FMA, the definition of “parent” encompasses all caregivers of children like same sex couples, grandparents, adoptive parents and all types of families, ensuring equal rights and protections for all parents and caregivers.
